DEMAND SIDE MANAGEMENT

UJALA Program
Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs and Appliances for All (UJALA) was launched by Honb’le Prime Minister of India Sri Narendra Modi on 1 May 2015.

Progress of this program in Uttar Pradesh is given below:
- Status till March 2019 (Attachment)
- Status of FY 2019-20 (April 2019- March 2020) (Attachment)
Municipal Demand Side Management Demonstration Program:
Under this program 04 stretches of Ghaziabad Development Authority has been identified and around 822 street lights has been replaced by LED Street Lights under this program. List of stretches are mentioned below:
- CISF to Kanawani Pulia (Indirapuram Stretch)
- Teela Mod to Banthala Railway Crossing (Loni Street)
- Road No. 1
- Road No. 11 (NH-24 to Kanawani Pulia)
Agriculture Demand Side Management Program:
1. Implementation of demonstration projects in rural drinking water pumping system:
  Under this scheme total 9 drinking water pump has been replaced with Energy Efficient pump.

2. Agriculture pumps replaced by energy efficient pump and smart meter.
  In Uttar Pradesh agricultural pump sets connected to grid are more than ten lakhs. Most of the agricultural pumps in UP are not having meter rather they pay electricity charges based on its KW rating. To reduce electricity consumption in agriculture sector, UP Government has decided to replace these old electric pumps sets by energy efficient pumps with smart meters. Under phase 1, approx. 9000 nos. Elect Pump sets shall be replaced while under phase 2 remaining 10,00,000 nos. shall be distributed by energy efficient pumps.
  
  The Eligible Beneficiaries shall be provided to farmers with the 3/5/7.5 HP rated En. Efficient Pump Sets free of cost with free Repair and Maintenance service for a period of 5 years from the date of distribution of such EEPS.
  
  Upto March 2019, Electric pump sets replaced by energy efficient pump sets are 1025 and by May 2020 are approx. 1850.

Energy Saving Calculator

The purpose of this energy calculator is to help you determine the average electricity consumption of each of your electrical appliances and their contribution to your monthly electricity bill. Also it shows how much electricity / money you can save if old appliance is replaced with Energy Efficient appliance.

How to Use the Calculator

Step 1: Fill the Cost of Electricity.
Step 2: Fill the quantity for each of the appliances.
Step 3: The calculator will display the electricty consumption (in kWh) & electricty saving (in kWh) for each appliance per annum and sunbsquent cost saving.
For example: If you are using 1 bulb of 100W for 8 hour a day (200 days in a year), then you should fill in as follows:
Cost of Electricity = Rs 7.0 per unit (Assumed)

The calculator shows that your Incandescent Bulb consumes on ..160... kWh per annuam and it contributes Rs .1120.00.. to your annual electricity bill. By replacing the old bulb with Energy Efficient 9 watt LED bulb you can reduce your consumpation up to 145.6 kWh per annum which reduces your electricity bill from Rs 1120.00 to Rs. 100.80
